NQNVR

AI-powered, security-hardened NVR

Security and intelligence, in one device.

A network video recorder that records up to 64 IP cameras, identifies people, vehicles, plates and fire with on-device AI, and protects storage, transport and key management end to end with AES-256-GCM.

Overview

Overview

NQNVR is an intelligent, security-hardened NVR that runs on standard x86 hardware with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and an Intel Core i3 or better (TNR-1600), on RK3588 ARM boards (TN-RK-200), and on Windows 10/11. Beyond recording and playback it runs AI video analytics (NQVCA) on the device itself. The recording engine, management console, live viewer, search, backup, remote API and watchdog are separate processes, so a fault in one function never takes down the rest. End-to-end encryption, TLS 1.2/1.3, integrity verification and audit logging are built into the architecture for environments with strict security requirements such as government and finance.

Notes

Usable channels and AI features depend on the license. Licenses cannot be activated inside a virtual machine.

Key Features

Key features

Security by design

End-to-end encryption is part of the architecture, not an add-on. Private keys and credentials never touch disk in plain text, and recorded video is encrypted with AES-256-GCM.

Built-in AI analytics

Identifies people, vehicles, faces, fire and license plates on the device with no cloud dependency. Intel CPU inference (OpenVINO) by default, with optional Hailo-8 or RK3588 NPU acceleration.

Multi-process resilience

Recording, management, viewer, search, backup, API and watchdog run as separate processes. Repeated failures trigger an automatic rollback to the previous version.

N+1 failover

One spare NVR continuously monitors N working NVRs and automatically takes over the cameras of any NVR that stops responding.

Two-tier data layer

Configuration and users are stored separately from video indexes and events, and audit logs live in their own database that survives a factory reset.

Integrity verification and audit

Installed files are checked for tampering at boot and periodically, and every administrative action and security event is written to the audit log.

Standard camera support

ONVIF discovery and registration, RTSP and RTSP-over-HTTPS streams, H.264/H.265, ONVIF event subscription (beep, event recording, video pop-up), PTZ and presets.

Secure remote operation

The HTTPS REST API and live/playback stream services are off by default. Only clients that pass the default-deny IP allow-list and HTTP Digest SHA-256 authentication may connect.

Korean and English UI

Every app and the audit log support Korean and English; adding a language needs only translation files.
